Unfortunately there is a bug preventing me from messaging a new contact. The app is showing me a captcha before I can send a message, but even after I successfully complete the captcha, and the captcha says that I verified correctly, it just shows me a brief error message which says "failed to submit" and the message doesn't send but seems to be in a weird suspended state! Is there any way to resolve this issue? Help appreciated!

I understand how thrilled everybody is about syncing message history to a linked device in Signal, it makes me happy too.

But in some cases (somebody in a domestic violence / controlling spouse situation seeking for help for example) being unable to sync the history to linked devices is a matter of life and death.

What measures did you take to protect these groups?

Simple question - why i can not download signal apk (for my Android phone) directly from Signal server/Signal homepage?

Why i ask? Playmarket need my private data for espionage (after some time send to me reclams e.t.c.).
You say "privacy is important" but install your "private aplication" is possible ONLY if i give my personal data (phone model, Android system, which Signal version i use e.t.c. e.t.c.)

Great! BUT, still missing two essential features on the desktop:

1. Chat folders. Very useful on mobile, but more than logical to have this on the desktop as well. Synced of course.

2. The most requested feature on the desktop since ages: GIF's!

Yes please!! I just had this issue and needed to restore my history by importing two old backups and exporting them again, after another to get both to the same DB schema, then merge them, and then import messages exported from Signal Desktop. It was a painful process but signalbackup-tools saved my bacon, really. If this isn't necessary in the future anymore, that'd be a big boon!

Also don't forget to check facebook.com/off_facebook_acti… to see which companies are dumping your info to Meta -- in many states you can make them stop doing it

Even if you don't have an account on any of the Meta sites or apps, you still have a "shadow profile" with info fed to them by thousands of companies

It's supposed to be running Facebook in a container tab so that it can't access any of the other browsing being done.

I've disabled Google Play Services and all Google apps. The only App that refuses to run is Strava, which is no loss, as I use OpenTracks. I have no advertising ID on my phone. Also run Privacy Badger & UBlock Origin on Firefox and reject most cookies, I also have 8 unregistered Nectar cards on rotation.

Not to gloat, but just for a giggle, I downloaded everything Google thought they knew about me... turns out it's around ⅝ of F.All.

That's rather naïve don't you think? Shouldn't we be talking about how to delete your account, file a GDPR request, and switch to better alternatives?

first impression: I like the bottom navigation a lot! 🚀

Only drawback so far, but maybe I miss something. On the sidebar I could filter my podcasts by tags which I use a lot to organize my podcasts. With the bottom navigation tags seems to be completely useless, at least I couldn't find a way to access them. It would be great if tags could be added to the bottom navigation to have easy access to some kind of filtered view of my podcast subscriptions.
